Our open and honest ethical statement

Consideration for our environment is very important and we believe that everybody has a responsibility to leave as small a footprint as possible.

There are many ways that we are able to achieve this, some are easy decisions to make and others not so easy but worth doing none the less. These are some of the steps we have taken to minimise our environmental impact whilst trading.

Trays, cups, knives and forks

We use trays made from Bagasse, this is a by-product from the British sugar beet industry. Bagasse is fully compostable and biodegradable (and we think a better tray for food). Our coffee cups are made from Bagasse so are also compostable and biodegradable.  Our knives, forks, spoons and stirrers are made from either corn starch or sustainably sourced wood and are compostable and biodegradable.

We do not use non-recyclable packaging for our products.

We do not sell cold drinks in plastic bottles, we sell either glass bottles or cans which can be recycled.

We are happy to fill your reusable cups or food containers and are considering ways we can encourage these options for our events.

Food

We offer a wide range of food and it can be difficult to be ethical with our choices.

We only sell Fair Trade tea and coffee.

We compost the food waste from our food prep at base and are currently exploring ways to minimise our food waste even further, watch this space for more info!

Power

The refridgeration, lighting and the hot water for hand and pot washing on our stall is powered by renewable energy, we use a solar panel on site and 100% renewable energy back at base.

Unfortunately we use gas to cook and have been unable to find a sustainable way to source this product.

We continue to look for ways to reduce our impact on the environment and would be grateful for any feedback or suggestions.
